What We’re
All About
It all started when…
One fateful day, circa 1990, my grandfather introduces me to LucasFilm Games’ “BallBlazer” on an Atari 2600. My toddler brain tries to comprehend the strange joystick, the futuristic “landscape”, and the jarring sound effects. But little did I know that I had been hooked, and the coming years lead me to try dozens of titles from some of the forefathers of the gaming world. My thoughts often return to those days, reminiscing about how the developers in those days were able to do so much with so little.
And now, in a world where AAA and casual, even idle games dominate the market, I seek to preserve and recreate the legacy of an era where games were rudimentary, yet engaging - a time where imagination and ingenuity flourished, and when the most obscure or outlandish titles became the benchmarks of sound gameplay for generations to come.
Piggybacking on those ideas, Static Sheep is about emulating the creativity and originality of the frontier days and distilling that down into the essence of a proper game. What I hope to achieve is a quality experience for players everywhere using the most simple of ingredients. Some may call our games “retro,” and others may call them “classic,” but really, the most important part is that they are “good”.
Shockingly good.
